About Bilaspur University (BU)

Bilaspur University (Vishvavidyalaya) is State University which has been established by the Chhattisgarh Act No. 07, 2012, and came in to existence in June, 2012. The jurisdiction of Bilaspur University is extended to five districts of the state which includes the districts of Bilaspur, Mungeli, Korba, Janjgir Champa and Raigarh. The University is situated on Old High Court Building, Bilaspur City. It is about 2 Km from Railway Station. There are nearly 158 government and private colleges affiliated to the Bilaspur University. The colleges carry out undergraduates and postgraduate studies in different streams of Science, Arts, Commerce, Law and Education and Centres of Research.

The University plans to develop strategy for enhancing the range of pedagogic approaches and the use of technology. As a part of this approach, the University plans to start classrooms into state of the art ones, enabling teachers to teach using wide variety of media.

About Department of Computer Science and Application:

Department of Computer Science was established in Bilaspur University, in the year 2013, with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Computer Science & Information Technology. With rapidly evolving technology and the continuous need for innovation the department is dedicated to produce quality professionals.

The department has well qualified faculty members and also labs of the department are equipped with latest computers with i5/i7 configuration along with highspeed Internet connectivity. Currently department is running five years integrated course in computer science & soon Ph.D. program in Computer Science will start.

About Department of Microbiology & Bio-informatics

Department of Microbiology and Bio-informatics was established in Bilaspur University, in the year 2013, with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Microbiology and Bio-informatics. The department is engaged in teaching and research, focused to cater the needs of society.

About Chhattisgarh Council of Science & Technology (CCOST)

The Chhattisgarh Council of Science & Technology (CCOST) was established in January 2001 under the aegis of Department of Science and Technology, Government of Chhattisgarh (C.G.). It is an autonomous body, which has been registered under the M.P. Societies Registration Act 1973.

The General Body of the Council is chaired by the Chief Minister of the State.

Mission:

The power of the science rests in elevating the downtrodden lot of the people they being at the last rung of the society. Our villages are like our unit cells. If the science and technology reaches the grassroot level, it shall always lean to strengthen the apex of the society.

Objective:

To identify areas in which Science and Technology can be utilised for achieving the socio-economic development of the State, and in particular, for tackling the problems of backwardness, unemployment and poverty in the rural areas and the under-privileged sections of society, such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Landless Labour, Artisans, Small and Marginal Farmers and Women..

To initiate, support, promote and co-ordinate such research and development projects, and programmes (including demonstration projects) as are likely to be relevant to the achievement of specific objectives and problems and help in the fruitful exploitation of the natural resources of the State through various institutions and organisations of the State.

To establish or assist for the establishment of infrastructure (Institution, Organisations, etc) necessary for Science and Technology development efforts of the State..

To advise Government on policies and measures necessary to promote utilisation of Science and Technology for the achievement of the said socio-economic development objectives..

To set up and administer documentation centre and /or laboratories.

To prepare or assist in the preparation of Science and Technology plans and formulate research and development programmes, approve such programmes if received from other institutions and finance and/or aid such projects by means of grants, loans, supply of material, provision of experts etc..

To promote the Popularisation of Science and the spread of a scientific temper and attitude amongst the people of the State and to disseminate scientific knowledge by means of pamphlets, journals, films etc. and to organise seminars and conferences to promote Science and Technology.

How to Reach

Air Route :

The nearest airport is at Raipur (Capital of Chhattisgarh ) which is 110 kms from Bilaspur. There are regular flights from other major cities of the country to Raipur.

Train Route :

Bilaspur is the headquarter of South East Central railway zone . This zone is the part of South Eastern Railway and is well connected to all parts of India. Bilaspur railway station is a regional hub for the railway system. It is the busiest junction of Chhattisgarh and fourth busiest of Central India.

About Bilaspur City

Bilaspur is a city In Bilaspur District in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, situated 111 km (69 mi) north of the state capital, Raipur. It is the second-largest city (after Raipur) in the state. It is the administrative headquarters of Bilaspur district. Chhattisgarh State High Court at Bilaspur privileges it to host the name 'Nyaydhani' (Law Capital) of the state.

Bilaspur is known for its aromatic Doobraj rice, handloom woven colourful soft Kosa silk saris, and more for its rich, varied and colorful culture. Afer the formation of Chhattsigarh state Bilaspur has emerged as the most favourable place to live in the state and developed city townships.

The climate is pleasant and mild in the winter, temperature during December varies from 10 to 25 degree Celsius.

Places to Visit :

Achanakmaar Wildlife Sanctuary

Achanakmaar Wildlife Sanctuary was constituted in 1975. It is a dense forest spread over an area of 555 km2. About 40 kms from Bilaspur City Achanakmaar is the natural habitat for many wild animals including the tiger, leopard, chital, sambhar, bear, gaur etc. A trip to the forest is a very pleasant experience and it has all the ingrdients to quench anybody's thirst for adventure.

Ratanpur :

The temple town, Ratanpur, is situated about 25 kilometers from Bilaspur City on the Bilaspur - Ambikapur Highway. Today it is recognized as a major religious center of the region that has national acclaim. Devotees visit the Mahamaya temple all round the year to offer their prayers and seek blessings of the deity from far and wide. The glorious past of the place made it a prime candidate for historians and archeologist. The fort of Ratanpur has been taken up for restoration by the Archeological Survey of India.

Talagaon :

Talagaon is a small quite village, on the banks of Maniyari river. It is situated about 30 kms from Bilaspur, off the Bilaspur-Raipur Highway. This village came to limelight and got registered on the tourist map when the ancient picturesque Deorani-Jethani temples on the banks of the river were excavated. The highlight of Talagaon is the unique idol of Lord Shiva known as Rudrashiv which is in excellent condition.

Amarkantak :

Amarkantak is a pilgrim town in Anuppur District (M.P.) also called "Teerthraj", which is about 100 kms. from Bilaspur. Amarkantak region is a unique natural heritage area and is the meeting point of the Vindhyas and the Satpuras, with the Maikal Hills. This is where the Narmada River emerge.

Abstracts will be blind reviewed and only those papers whose abstracts get approved by the reviewers will be selected for presentation and publication in souvenir.

Selected full length papers will be published in the following Journals without publication fee(without any charge).
